The Race for 2008: Edwards on Tour

Filed under: Critical Voices | Democrats | FrontPage — by Bob Zuber @ 2:57 am

Rob Christensen of the Raleigh News and Observer has been keeping a close eye on Edwards’ non-declared candidacy, including his many trips to Iowa: “Last week, in fact, Edwards drew adoring crowds wherever he went. More than 300 crowded into the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, 150 gathered for apple pie in the Community Orchard in Fort Dodge, 200 ate hot dogs and listened to bluegrass under the Big Bluestem Shelter in Ames.

“He draws big crowds — no question about it,” said Brent Wynja, vice chairman of the Story County Democratic Party. “He has a real loyal following. I’m a Kerry man myself. They [Edwards' backers] are stirred up and excited.”

Rather than view Edwards as tarnished by his loss in 2004, they blame his running mate, Kerry, for failing to showcase Edwards. Some suggest that if Edwards had been on the top of the ticket, the Democrats would be in the White House.”

Words for Acts

Perhaps an honest world will never exist. But what's to keep us from dreaming? If each one of us tries to change, maybe we'll succeed.
