Scurrilous Democrat

Filed under: Presidential 2008 — by Will Kirkland @ 10:10 pm

I don’t get it. Who does Sidney Blumenthal think will be left to vote for his candidate if he uses tactics that make us think This Is Not Our Party? For months he has been sending out his cullings to a wide readership — much as I do, though his list is longer and weightier, and his cullings — and praise of them — are from the far corners of the right-wing sewer.

for such a self-professed liberal operative like Blumenthal, a staggering number of the anti-Obama attacks he circulates derive from highly-ideological and militant right-wing sources such as the misnamed Accuracy in Media (AIM), The Weekly Standard, City Journal, The American Conservative, and The National Review.

To cite just one recent example, Blumenthal circulated an article taken from the fervently hard-right AIM website on February 18 entitled, “Obama’s Communist Mentor” by Cliff Kincaid. Kincaid is a right-wing writer and activist, a longtime critic of the United Nations, whose group, America’s Survival, has been funded by foundations controlled by conservative financier Richard Mellon Scaife, the same millionaire who helped fund attacks on the Clintons during their White House years. Scaife also funds AIM, the right-wing media “watchdog” group.

Blumenthal: Slurry Pump

Hillary, will you abjure, cast-off, denounce and forswear any more relation with a man who is out to damage your party, and therefore you? Prime time, please.

Words for Acts

An avidity to punish is always dangerous to liberty. It leads men to stretch, to misinterpret, and to misapply even the best of laws. He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.
