Democrat Wins in Mississippi!
This is unbelievable news.
Travis Childers, Democrat, has beaten Greg Davis in a special election for a Congressional seat!!
It has been in Republican hands for decades and had come open because Gov. Haley Barbour, a Republican, pulled Roger Wicker out of the seat to replace Trent Lott in the Senate. (Lott, the former Senate majority leader, retired in December to become a lobbyist.)
Oh sweet, sweet stuff! Both parties poured gazillions into the race.
The National Republican Congressional Committee, the conservative group Freedom Watch and Davis have reportedly spent close $1 million airing television commercials that link Childers to Obama.
This is the third contested race in a row in which Dems have triumphed over Reps in long-time Republican seats — and at least the second one — in the South– in which tying the Democrat to radical Obamism and Reidism and Pelosiism failed. Yes!
Mr. Childers is no Russ Feingold but heck, foot in the door you know.
Oh, go ahead and gloat. Guys like these are just asking for it:
Question: Does Travis Childers Have a Chance?
Answer: No
Someone over at DailyKos and our friends at Cottonmouth are really trying to sell a bill of goods that says Travis Childers has a chance in NE MS. They forget one important fact; Haley Barbour is the Governor of Mississippi, he made the Senate appointment and I hardly doubt that our good Governor would stand by and not put the full efforts of the MS GOP towards retaining this seat.
Plus everyone already knows that Travis Childers is a shady fellow, just look at who he hangs out with, using his office to make sweet-heart land deals. This is a very well known fact in Prentiss County
