Who is Todd Palin and What is He Doing in the Halls of Government?

It’s hard to believe the McCain camp did any vetting of Sarah Palin for Vice President beyond the cover of Vogue which they apparently liked. The slightest bit of nosing around in the press and blogs of Alaska turns up very interesting stuff — including the nepotistic intrusion of the Governor’s husband, Todd, into the affairs of state.

The blogger, Andrew Halcro, from a brief survey of his other articles, does not seem a hot-head or a man with an agenda. What do you think?

…why does the governor’s husband, Todd Palin appear to hold so much power?

After all, Nancy Murkowski or Susan Knowles were never accused of pressuring a commissioner or inappropriately sitting in on meetings that should have been private.

The stories started last year when Representative Ralph Samuels told me about going into a meeting, he thought would be private, with Governor Sarah Palin. Much to his surprise, Todd Palin was there and proceeded to sit through the entire meeting.

Other lawmakers have shared similar stories and were shocked at how inappropriate Todd’s presence was at meetings with the governor.

I, for one, recall the howls when Hillary Clinton was said to be doing more than a good wife should during husband Bill’s tenure in the White House.
