“Sarah knows how to field-dress a moose; I know how to castrate a calf,” Ms. Judge, a farmer and former state agricultural secretary, told an audience in Iowa the other day. “Neither of those things has anything at all to do with this election. But since we know so much about Sarah’s special skills, I wanted to make sure you knew about mine, too.”

Lt. Gov. Patty Judge, IA

Words for Acts

Of all the enemies of public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded, because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies. From these proceed debt and taxes. And armies, debts and taxes are the known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few...No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare.

James Madison, 1795
