Car Bomb in Damascus

At least 17 people were killed in a car bomb in Damascus. Assad’s government hasn’t said who they think the killers were. A Syrian intelligence building is in the area. A car bomb in Februrary killed a major Hizbullah figure and was blamed by that group on Israel — which had denied involvement. Bombings blamed on Sunni extremists have happened in Syria in recent years.

Words for Acts

An avidity to punish is always dangerous to liberty. It leads men to stretch, to misinterpret, and to misapply even the best of laws. He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.
