Dingell Out. Waxman In

Filed under: Congress | Energy | Environment — by Will Kirkland @ 8:03 am

This promises to be one of the most significant changes in the D.C. political scene in years. The Dems have just voted John Dingell out and Henry Waxman in as Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committe. CNN reporting. The Hill is reporting Pelosi’s hand in this. You go girl! Waxman won 137-122 in the secret ballot vote. [Don't know if Waxman will give up his Chairmanship of Oversight and Government Reform, where he has done important work, or who might replace him.]

This will have bearing on the bail-out or not of the Big Three automakers, as well. If there is a bail out major energy restructuring will be part of the deal…

Words for Acts

An avidity to punish is always dangerous to liberty. It leads men to stretch, to misinterpret, and to misapply even the best of laws. He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach to himself.
