Hypocrisy Bites

UPDATE: Ensign resigns as Chair of the Senate Republican Policy Committee - charged with analyzing pending legislation.

Sen. John Ensign today acknowledged an extramarital affair with a member of his campaign staff.”

“The affair took place between December 2007 and August 2008 with a campaign staffer who was married to an employee in Ensign’s Senate office. Neither have worked for the senator since May 2008.”

So let’s see, the affair started during the campaign, cuckolding the employee, and continued after the two left the Senator’s employ.

Then there’s this:

In order to defend the institution of marriage, uphold the rights of individual states and maintain the will of the people, I believe we are compelled to amend our country’s Constitution,” Ensign said. –2004

And this:

Ensign has been a leading conservative voice who demanded the resignation of former Idaho Sen. Larry Craig in September 2007. Ensign called Craig a “disgrace” after he was arrested in June 2007 in an airport men’s restroom on disorderly conduct charges. But when Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) acknowledged having an affair, Ensign didn’t call on him to resign.

And this:

In 1998, while running for Nevada’s Senate seat against Harry Reid, Ensign called on President Clinton to resign in light of his admitted affair with former White House intern Monica Lewinsky:

“I came to that conclusion recently, and frankly it’s because of what he put his whole Cabinet through and what he has put the country through,” Ensign said Thursday, becoming the first member of the Nevada delegation to call for Clinton to quit. “He has no credibility left.”

John Ensign is a veterinarian. Is “Neuter and Spay the Only Way”?

“And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.”
    Matt 7:3-5 (KJV)

There are way too many politicians who are eager to impose their “moral values” on everyone through legislation, but who obviously have a hard time (as it were) following their own rules.
Maybe they should read their Bibles a bit more before they try to use the law to tell the rest of us how to live our lives.
And I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that almost every one of these hypocrites is a ‘Publican.
(Note to the inevitable trolls: yes, Bill Clinton, Barney Frank, and Ted and Patrick Kennedy are clearly sinners — heinous, vile sinners. As are we all. “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.” “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Rom 3:10 & 23 But since none of them have founded their careers on pushing on the electorate the “family values” that they themselves can’t live up to, they’re not flaming hypocrites as well — at least on these issues.)
Well, at least Senator Ensign committed adultery with a female-type person. The Publicans clearly have less a problem with that than they would have had if it had been a male-type person — y’know, like Sen. Larry Craig (R-Sodom) and the former Rep. Mark Foley (R-Gomorrah).

What a HYPOCRITE. ENSANE YOUR WORD IS NOTHING AS A POLITICIAN YOU CAN NOT BE TRUSTED. DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR NEVADA AND RESIGN.

Words for Acts

None of us is in a position to eliminate war, but it is our obligation to denounce it and expose it in all its hideousness. War leaves no victors, only victims.
