GOP Worries About Their Medicare Agenda

The point of posting this is not so much to keep track of a race in upper New York State but to point to the obvious, at least to many of us:  Dems! Beat up on those who claim Medicare is responsible for the deficit, and turning it over to the cloistered market of insurers will fix it.

John A. Boehner, the speaker of the House, arrived in this small village outside of Buffalo to throw his support behind the flagging campaign of the Republican candidate running for a vacant seat in Congress.

Appearing before a roomful of supporters gathered in a banquet hall here, Mr. Boehner urged Republican voters to rally around the party’s candidate, Jane Corwin, who has seen her lead shrink in a heavily Republican Congressional district that both parties expected her to capture with relative ease.

… Ms. Corwin, a well-liked state lawmaker, has lost ground as her Democratic rival, Kathy Hochul, has sought to capitalize on concerns about a plan House Republicans introduced last month to overhaul Medicare. Ms. Hochul, the Erie County clerk, has attacked the plan and urged Ms. Corwin to abandon it.

Words for Acts

It is impudent in the extreme for this man to go around Europe haranguing people on their duties to civilization when his own country presents one of the most lawless aspects of modern life the whole world affords.
